Mary Frances, a
group of seventeen black and white images that follow my friend’s
decline and subsequent death from colon cancer, is hanging at the
Alfond Health Science Building at the University of New England,
Biddeford, Maine, this week only, January 23 – January 8, 2006. The
reprise of this display (originally made in 1994) is in conjunction
with Dr. Marilyn Gugliucci’s medical school class on death and dying.
The subject’s daughter, Calien Lewis, and I will be giving a gallery
talk/lecture on January 24 at noon.
Opening March
9, 2006, at the Area Gallery, Woodbury Campus Center on the Portland
Campus of the University of Southern Maine, I will be in a show, along
with three other USM graduates; this show is entitled Public
Places/Private Spaces. My work consists of ten black and white images
of City Park, New Orleans (before Katrina!) and New York City’s
Central Park. Artist talks are scheduled for March 13 at 2 p.m. (Snow
date, March 20, 2 p.m.)
